Street and Road Maintenance
The City of Angus has an interlocal agreement with Navarro County Pct. 3 to maintain the streets and roads within the city since Angus does not have the equipment or employees to do road maintenance. Please call the City Hall at (903) 874-3513 to report any issues such as potholes, etc. The city will contact Pct. 3 to schedule repairs or road grading. Please be aware that there are over 400 miles of roads in Pct. 3 and they will not always be available to get repairs done immediately.
The city is working diligently to improve the quality of the roads in Angus, but funds are limited. We were awarded a grant in 2021 and used those funds to address the drainage and ditches on the west side of IH 45. Proper drainage keeps the water from washing across the roads and washing away the gravel. The city has been awarded another grant and work will begin in 2025 to make ditch and drainage improvements to the streets on the east side of IH 45.
Many residents want to know why the city doesn't asphalt the roads. We checked into to this in 2016 and at that time it cost $157,000.00 per mile for road base and 2 inches of asphalt.
The only source of income for the city is from sales and use tax. You do not pay property taxes to the City of Angus.
