Job Announcement: City Secretary/Treasurer Position - Part Time (As of 10/8/2024 we are not accepting any more applications for this position.)
This position is part-time (approximately 20 hrs per week). No insurance, no sick days, no paid vacation days, no paid holidays.
Applicants must be proficient in Quickbooks, Excel, and Word. Applicant must be bondable. The Secretary/Treasurer is required to be a Notary Public (the city will pay for this and the bond).
In addition to daily duties such as opening mail and paying invoices, keeping track of the finances, filing reports with the TCEQ, and updating website information, the Secretary/Treasurer will be assisting in grant administration for multiple grants. The Secretary/Treasurer will also be responsible for maintaining the financial records and writing checks for the city's Volunteer Fire Dept.
The Secretary/Treasurer is required to attend and take minutes at the monthly meetings of the City Council which are held on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m.
The city is audited each year and the Secretary/Treasurer will be required to provide all information to the auditors that is required to complete the audit. Applicants need to be organized and detail-oriented.
Many of our documents (especially grant documents) are processed via e-mail. Applicant should be able to download, print, scan and attach documents to e-mails and various websites used for reporting purposes.
The city maintains and operates a small sewer system. The Secretary/Treasurer is responsible for invoicing sewer customers each month and collecting payments.
Looking for a self-starter who works well with little supervision. Must posess good comunication and writing skills.
